Founder and MD - Global Surf Guides International
Global Surf Guides was founded by Dave in 2001 with
the sole aim of making the best waves worldwide easily accessible
to surfers. The Global Surf Guides philosophy is to ‘keep
it simple’ – we provide you with the surf guide - how
you then structure your trip is entirely up to you and your guide.
Dave has travelled as a touring pro-surfer, to world-class
spots such as Hossegor, Mundaka, Pipeline, Padang and many more.
He has also been on the other side of the fence having worked as
a surf guide in G-Land, Indonesia (8 seasons) and The Maldives (3
seasons). He is based in Sunshine Coast, Australia but commutes
regularly to G-Land!

Matt Scard is also a well travelled surfer and has a passion for
jumping on airplanes chasing waves around the world. Matt is our
technical support, office supervisor and data technician all rolled
into one big package.
Kat joined the Global Surf Guides team in 2006 to look after the
growing number of UK and European surfers booking surf travel with
us. Ace photographer Kat knows our destinations well with her surf
travels having taken her to New Zealand, Bali, Thailand, South Africa,
France, Spain, Portugal, California, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, as
well as having spent a number of years living in Australia.
Kat has also personally used our surf guides in Kauai, Tahiti, Raglan
and Bali, so knows the inside scoop!
Dom Ryalls
Consultant and Finance Manager - Global Surf Guides Europe
Dom met Global Surf Guides founder, Dave Scard, back
in 2000 on a boat trip in the Maldives and then regularly caught
up with him for a wave in various spots around the world from Bali
and G-Land to Australia and New Zealand. Dom has been an avid user
of Global Surf Guides products for many years, even on his honeymoon,
so being such an advocate it made perfect sense to bring him on
board!
Dom brings to the table his finance skills, along with a passion
for surfing, plus a desire to experience the lifestyle and the local
breaks of our surf guides around the world rather than just seeing
the inside of a hotel room and a sloppy onshore beach break!
