Almost all the surf breaks are located
one to two miles off shore, on the island reef passes,
very similar to the set ups you see in Tahiti. The only
way to get to the surf is with a reliable boat. Caroline
Islands gathers swell produced by the North Pacific
winter storms, and by the Western Pacific typhoons from
October to May.

P.S.C.'s boats are ready to take
you to the uncrowded lineups.
The East and West sides of the island have
different passes but by far the most consistent surf occurs
on the north west side. The main break, P-Pass is a world
class right. Very fast and hollow a full on barrel wave.
This wave is located 25 minutes away from the P.S.C. by
boat. On medium and high tides there is plenty water on
the reef and lower tides can be surfed with caution. The
predominant winds here are side and off shore. The swell
wraps around the reef at P-Pass, combined with the trade
winds make this wave the place we surf on most of the days.
P-Pass is so good that you don’t want to go anywhere
else. A very perfect and ripable wave to about 6 feet, above
that size you enter another level of surfing.

Shield
The second option is for the very experienced
surfer, a reef pass right in
front the hotel that requires a 10 minute boat ride.
This right pass is called
the Main Pass is always bigger. Main pass holds any
size and imitates Sunset Beach if we had to compare
it to any other wave. Main Pass wraps around the reef
even more than P-Pass and is to be surfed only on high
tides.

here, hollow wrapping barrels.
Both waves were featured on Surfer Magazine
and The Surfers Journal. Location was never disclosed.
As we said, there are many passes on all sides of the
island but most have
not been consistently ridden and are yet to be discovered.
Chris and Allois,
owners and operators of PSC have lived in Hawaii and
surfed all over the
world. It did not take to long for them to figure out
that it was here where
they had the best surfing sessions of their lives.

to get from point A to B,
specially on the water. PSC, is the only operation on
the island that caters
to surfers and understand their needs. Allois and Chris,
are experts on
local surf forecasting and every day conditions, their
local

P-PASS
The Jewel !!! truly a world class wave
with various moods depending on the size and direction
of swell. At 2 - 3ft it offers a fun wave that can be
ridden by most levels of surfer. When the swell reaches
4 - 5 ft wave opens up more giving hollow waves with
less room for error. From 5 ft and above it is recommended
that experienced surfers take on the sets and let everybody
else enjoy the show. For the most part the reef here
is flat and user friendly, all of the passes do have
some strong current at different changes of tide.
MAIN PASS
Main pass is the channel that all the
large boats use to enter the lagoon of the island. The
pass also offer a fast and challenging wave that grows
as you surf along the wall. Main Pass is the swell magnet
and will break from 2 ft to 10ft. The inside section
of this wave is not for the faint hearted or the in-experienced
surfer, the reef at low tide is fully exposed. This
wave is for experienced surfers and is a super rippable
wave, the best size to surf it is 3-5 ft.
EASY PASS
Easy pass, the name really only describes
the outside section of the wave. With a soft, wrapping
outside section can be surfed on high tide at between
2 - 4 ft. The pass is not as open to swell as Main pass
and also has an inside section that should be avoided.
This is another fun wave that should be surfed by intermediate
to advanced surfers only.
FREDDOS
A world class left on its day for
sure !!! Freddos is only 10 mins from the camp and has
the potential to really pump when the winds are not
trade. There are at least three surfable sections on
the reef and sometimes they all link into a wall the
imitates Money Trees in G-Land. From 2 -10 ft this wave
is totally surfable and is very user friendly.
SONDENS
From 2 ft to well we don't know yet.....
This wave is nothing short of incredible. At two feet it
can provide a fun user friendly wave it has at least two
sections. At 12 ft it looks like a mini Jaws with big drops
and heaving outside and inside sections. This wave also
needs non trade winds or light winds.

SPAGETTIS
Named after the striking similarity to
Macaronis in the Mentawais. Spaghettis needs a large
north swell or an easterly swell to break. The reef
has a perfect shape to turn the ocean swell into funneling
tubes between 2 and 6 ft. The reef here is a bit sharper
than Freddos as it does not get as pounded, intermediate
to advanced surfers will love this wave !!!
RUSSELL'S RIGHTS
Russell's rights is a great wave with
at least 3 surfable sections on the corner of a small
Island. It is not the most consistent wave needing an
easterly swell and favorable winds. If conditions prevail
there is an opportunity to surf fun waves from 2- 6
ft.

Islands was hands down the best trip of my life and before
I even left I was already trying to work out how to get
back there. Main Pass is one of the best kiteable right
handers in the world and with P-Pass, rated as one of the
top 10 (My top 1) surfing waves on the planet, sitting right
next door- What could be better? This trip is about having
fun and riding waves, learning and progressing in your sport.
I'll be your guide so you can expect to rise early for a
surf, then when the wind comes up enjoy some epic kiting
and then we might even swing out and sample some of the
world class fishing. There is very limited space on this
trip. Due to the nature of our mission we can only take
advanced kiters along. If you’re into kiting in the
waves and feel you’re up to the task I’d love
to have you join me.”
Make Your Own Group
With a minimum of 5 kite surfers you can guarantee
a boat will be available to take your group on kitesurfing
missions around the island. Experienced riders only will
be required to launch from the boat to kite the outside
passes. There are other launch spots our guides can show
you for kite surfing in the lagoon.

Born 1962, Allois Malfitani grew up skating
the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil. A career as a professional
skateboarder was all in the making until one day in
1979 everything was changed when he was introduced to
the world of surfing. Overcome with the desire to surf
the best waves the world had to offer and live the “surfing
lifestyle Allois in 1992 moved to the Mecca of the sport,
the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. For the next twelve
years Allois had it all. He lived steps to the infamous
Waimea Bay, surfed whenever he felt like it and for
work had the ultimate job - managing Mark Foos Backpackers
Vacations Inns. It was the epicenter for all the traveling
surf pro's and he was immersed at the pinnacle of the
sport.
More than fifteen years back Allois had seen
a picture in a National Geographic showing an unparalleled
wave wrapping around a reef pass. In the winter of 2000
with much apprehension and only a single picture to go on
Allois ventured out to look for this fabled reef pass. After
many trials Allois came accross the wave and the beautiful
island that accompanied it. The wave and the setup were
ideal.

life in the islands.
Endless waves peeled off the pass with no
one out, waves with almost cartoon like perfection. When
he rode that first wave across the bowl, he knew he had
stumbeled accross something special. He came back to Hawaii
charged from surfing the best waves of his life. Now, even
the famous waves of the North Shore lacked in comparison
to the waves he had ridden there. Upon returning he invited
many friends to come and surf the perfect reef pass he had
surfed. Most of them wrote him off thinking that he might
be over estimating the quality of the surf and in addition
no one wanted to leave the North Shore during the prime
winter season. Although the few that left with him and took
the risk were rewarded ten times over. For three weeks at
a time he and his closest friends surfed their brains out
with no one out grinding barrel after barrel. Now Allois
and his good friend Chris Groark (co-owner of PSC) are sharing
their treasure with others. Allois and Chris have joined
forces with Global Surf Guides to offer unparalleled surf
vacations to PSC where selected small groups of surfers
can enjoy and preserve this forgotten place. A world-class
wave hidden as a true jewel in today's crowded and over
exposed surfing destinations.

Besides the surf this island have many
large waterfalls, long mangroves channels that will
remind you of a water maze, ancient ruins the size of
a couple city blocks, very clear water for snorkeling,
incredible fishing, good
restaurants and bars on the mountains where you can
relax, have a beer and see a beautiful sunset over the
barrier reef.

with many reef passes and tourist attractions.
In every different island or Atoll a different
language is spoken. English
is used in schools as a medium of instruction and is
the official language
in Caroline Islands. The crime rate is very low. The natives
are as nice people as you can imagine. The local people
drink a similar drink to what Kava is in Fiji. If you want
to try some they can bring you a bottle for around $4 US.

The local people are very gifted in when doing
their traditional wood
carvings. PSC will take you to their carving village
where you can choose
The island is 130 square miles and has 40000 habitants.
Continues Protestant missionary activity has taken place
here since 1852,
and continuous Catholic missionary work since 1886.
At present, the
population of the island is divided about equally between
this two Christian
religions. There are also active churches from Assembly
of God, BabaI
National, Calvary Batist, Church of Christ, Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, Pentecostal, Jehovas Witnesses, Roman Catholic,
Seven Day
Adventist, The United Church Of Christ ( congregational),
The Universal
Church and Lutherans.

of these islands have to be seen to be believed !!!
The Climate in the The Caroline Islands can be characterized
by high temperatures, lots of rain fall and high humidity.
About 190 inches of rain falls annually around our hotel
area and up to 400 inches in the high mountains of the
island. Temperatures are uniform with the mean lows
in the mid seventies and the mean high in the mid to
upper eighties. The humidity in the island is eighty
to ninety percent.

ANT ATOLL
Ant Atoll is located
North East on the main island. This is one of the most pristine
and untouched accessable atolls in the world. A day tour
at an extra cost can be arranged for some of the most spectacular
diving and fishing imaginable.

PSC is the first and only operation in
The Caroline Island Group that was founded in 2004,
having surfers in mind. Allois and Chris have been surfing
these waves since 2000 by themselves!!! We and our team
of local boat pilots and local guides will be doing
our best to take you where the best surf will be everyday.
If girlfriends or wifes don't feel like staying on the
boat all day long
we can show them other things to do around the island.

Transportation with PSC is simple. You and your friends
need only to gather your boards and fishing gear and
walk outside your bungalow to the waters edge. From
there all it takes is to get in the boat and we are
off !!!!
PSC has two boats, a 23 ft and 26 ft boat
ready to go at any time. They are to surf, fish, picnic
on one of the private other island located inside the
lagoon, navigate the mangrove channels or to reach the trails
of waterfalls
or ancient ruins.

Transport will be supplied for all surfing
activities, fishing activities will be limited to the camp
owners discretion due to high fuel cost. Transport on land
will be supplied with the PSC fleet and with the local taxi
service. PSC has an agreement with the local government
to sometimes use the local taxi service at the guests expense.
A taxi into town costs a total of 1 dollar.

30 ft Marine Six with twin 75 hp Honda Four
Stroke Motors, sun protection, pole holders, stereo. Ideal
boat for longer trips inside or outside the lagoon to places
like Ant Atoll or Nan Madol. The full sun protection and
stereo makes the ride sooth and fun.

25 ft Marine Six boat with one 130 hp Four
Stroke Honda Motor, sun protection, pole holders. Ideal
boat for inside the lagoon, surfing, exploring the hidden
corners of Pohnpei.

25 ft Yamaha boat with twin 40hp Yamaha Enduro
Motors, sun protection, four pole holders and 2 outriggers
holders. This is our official fishing boat. Rides good under
clean or windy ocean conditions and the twin motors always
guarantee a safe ride home.

During my search for empty perfect waves,
and the location to start my camp on these islands of
the Pacific, I came across something I really was not
expecting, there are origins of surfing here. Surfing
that could be as ancient as the the art performed by
the Hawaiians.
The Hamburg Expeditions.
1908-1910, the ship "Pesho" with the Hamburg
South Seas Scientific
Expedition, worked for 3 months on these islands."People
and Culture of the German Pacific" by Ernest Sarfert
and Kramer, includes accounts of ancient ruins, cultural
aspects, the weaving, the looms and skills and the constructions
of canoes and houses by the natives.
The following games were observed or were
documented:
"Lying on a piece of wood and riding the
surf towards shore, Supposed to
be an ancient game. They called it, Lallal Noa."

The fishing here is just awesome !!!!
being only 400 miles north of the equator the ocean
here is very warm and so fish are very active !!! Most
of the fishing is done on the way to and from the days
surf, what a way to finish a session pulling in a 8
kg wahoo. There are all kinds of fish here.....

at base camp will cook it up for your lunch or dinner for
a small fee. They also do great Sashimi !!!
The mud crabs here are just outstanding,
they are worth the return trip alone, they are huge
!!! they cost less than $10 USD.

In March of 2007, one of the biggest and most
intense storms we have ever seen formed of the coast of
Japan. The predicted swell was to be gigantic so it was
time to call in the specialists, Shane Dorian, Mark Matthews
and Dan Ross.
